Raving for the first time is a unique experience that almost everyone remembers their experience for the rest of their life. You have so much to look forward to being a first-time raver. Going for your first rave might be quite a different experience than anything else you have done for the first time. You will be so excited and overwhelmed that you may not always be fully prepared for the event. Don’t worry, we are here to guarantee that you have the best experience possible and enjoy the event. This article provides information on 8 simple tips to remember when you are preparing or heading out to your first rave.
- Do not forget to explore the sights and sounds:
If you are a first-time raver, you should remember to walk around and see everything. Veteran ravers who accompany you may already know which DJs they want to see and which stages they want to go to. But you are going there for the first time. Hence, you shouldn’t stay at one stage because there is so much to see and different types of dance music to enjoy. If your experienced friends prefer to stay in one area, tell them that you want to explore the entire place and get a feel of what you really like. In fact, you may even get a chance of discovering DJs you have never heard of.
- Wear comfy shoes:
Wear comfy shoes since you will have to walk and dance a lot during the event. If you decide to go for a new pair of shoes, make sure to test them before the event. Wear them for an entire day to get a feel for how they fit. If any part of the shoe feels uncomfortable, don’t wear them to the festival. In fact, the pain created by improper-fitting shoes will take away the awesome experience so are supposed to have. Wear a double layer of socks for more cushioning if there is room in your shoes. You should wear what’s best for you since everyone doesn’t feel comfortable wearing the same pair of shoes. Another thing is, you don’t have to wear the cleanest pair of shoes to the festival because, by the end of the day, your shoes will be dirty anyway. There will be people who will accidentally step on your shoes and make them dirty and dusty. The condition of your shoes will be the last thing on your mind with all the excitement happening at the event.
- Do not go too hard:
Pace yourself because there’s a lot to experience and see. Don’t try to have a bunch of drinks during the first 20 minutes of getting there and ruin your entire day. Sure, you should have fun but you should also remember everything the next day. If you drink, pace yourself so that you do it throughout the night. In fact, it’s not fun to be feeling sick after 1 or two hours of getting there and having to rest the entire night. It’s definitely a mood killer. On the other hand, if you don’t want to drink, it’s fine because there is so much going on and the whole rave is fun. You won’t need that extra help to have a great time at the festival. You should have fun at the event, but don’t overdo it.
- Do not carry too much stuff:Â
Take only a few basic necessities since the more stuff you carry with you, the more stuff you should keep track of. You will become paranoid checking your pockets all night long if you carry too much stuff. If you have too much stuff, the security will take longer to check you. The less the stuff, the faster you will check in. Try to take only the essentials like your phone, money, lip balm, and more. In case you decide to bring lip balm to the festival, make sure it isn’t still open since certain events will not let you in with an already opened one. Keep all these items in a secure purse or wallet that won’t fall out while you are walking, dancing, or jumping. Don’t forget to buy your 6 inch glow sticks in bulk. Also, there are booths that carry essentials in case you forget to carry an item to the festival.Â
- Go out of your way & meet people:
Approaching a new person in the outside world could be nerve-racking whether you are a shy person or not. But you shouldn’t hesitate to meet people and talk with them, after all, this is a rave. There are people from across the globe, and you will love meeting some of them at the festival. You will find so many beautiful people at the event with different things and different stories to share with you. You may even meet these people at future events and make lifelong friendships. People will come and talk to you, but you also should make an effort to go out there and meet new friends. It’s always good to meet new friends.
- Be prepared for the weather:
Being in the crowd will make you hot and sweaty. Sometimes, the days can be hot and the nights can get cold. You may feel hot at the event but feel freezing as soon as you take a walk to the parking lot. I’m comfortable in the crowd since my rave outfits don’t have complete coverage. But I might feel the cold as soon as I get out of the event. That’s why I always carry a sweater and blanket in my vehicle. I get warmed up as soon as I get into the car. Most of the time, I carry a light sweater with me to the event. If you are at the festival when the sun is blazing, make sure to rest in a shady place and stay hydrated. Prepare to walk a lot since there might be lots of illy terrain between stages. Look up the weather for that area before you go to any rave. Don’t get caught in the heat or cold. Get advice from your experienced partners on what you should wear and how to be prepared for the event.
- Be yourself:
You can come completely as you are and not be judged at a raving festival. Raving is one place where you can just be yourself and not be judged for that. You won’t be judged for how you act or look. Let your ego vanish at the rave. In fact, you don’t have to worry about trying to fit in. You don’t have to have an arm full of candy to be with the crowd. You will be embraced exactly the way you are, and you can come as yourself. Â
- Live in the moment:
Sure, you should take pictures. But you should focus more on your experience than on taking pictures. Taking pictures is important to remember the moments later on. In fact, it is the mental pictures that linger the most. I have been to many raving events where I was focused on taking pictures, but by the time the festival was over, I didn’t have any pictures to show because I was just caught up in the moment. Feel the music, get a light show, dance all night, have fun with your friends, and make real memories at the festival.Â
