Dealing with unreliable energy suppliers can mess up your business. Besides inflating the energy costs, an unreliable supplier will bring you inaccurate bills and offer poor customer services. However, you can raise a complaint and have the issue resolved. The following guide will help you report unreliable energy suppliers.

Check The Meter Readings

Before launching your complaint, be sure to check your latest meter reading and write down your customer reference number. Explain the problem clearly and suggest how you expect it to be resolved.

Contact The Provider

Have you just realized that your energy bills have been inaccurately billed? Or you aren’t simply satisfied with the service you’re getting? Well, the first thing you need to do is to contact your energy supplier. Let them know about the issue. You can readily find their contact information on your energy bill.

You may also want to consider making your complaint in writing. If you choose to write a letter or send an email, then bear in mind that you won’t get an instant response. Therefore, if you have a pressing issue, it’s better to make a phone call.

What If They Don’t Resolve the Issue?

If your energy supplier fails to provide a tangible solution within eight weeks, then you might have to seek an alternative. Some of the available options include:

Seek The Ombudsman’s Services– This is an independent scheme that’s responsible for investigating complaints from energy consumers if their concerns haven’t been addressed by a supplier. The ombudsman can force the supplier to rectify the issue, apologize, or even provide you with some compensation.

Get Citizen’s Advice– If you need more support, contact Citizens Advice. Essentially, the service provides free and impartial advice. They can help you understand your rights, as well as your energy provider’s legal responsibilities. Their helpline is often open during weekdays. So, don’t hesitate to contact them if you’re feeling overwhelmed by your current energy situation.

Switch To a Different Supplier

If you’re still feeling unhappy with the service you’re getting, then consider switching to a different supplier using Utility Bidder. But you can only do this if your current contract is about to expire. Your supplier will notify you about this when your energy contract enters its renewal window. And once that’s done, your supplier will handle the switching process and you’ll be automatically moved over within one to two months.

Things To Expect

Once you switch to a different supplier, your energy tariffs will be instantly updated. However, your gas or electricity will still be delivered through the same cables. As such, you won’t need to incur additional expenses for digging and drilling. Plus, your energy supply won’t be disrupted. Things will remain the same as before. So, don’t worry about yourself too much. But before making a switch, it’s always imperative to compare different rates and suppliers. This will go a long way in ensuring that you get the best energy deal possible.

The Bottom-Line

Don’t let unreliable energy suppliers mess up your business. Report that supplier. Alternatively, you can switch to a good supplier. Use the above guide when reporting about a rogue energy supplier.
