Timothy Dalton: Intro
Actor Timothy Dalton, who is of English descent, is best remembered for playing James Bond in the films The Living Daylights and License to Kill. Dalton resides between Chiswick, London, and West Hollywood, California. He lives in St. John’s in Antigua and Barbuda as well.
He was born on March 21st, 1944, and at the age of 72, he has amassed a sizable following all around the world. Peter Dalton Leggett, an Englishman, and Dorothy Scholes, his mother, were both present during his birth. Dalton was raised at Colwyn Bay, North Wales, and attended the Hebert Strutt Grammar School. After enrolling at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, he joined the Birmingham Repertory Theatre’s cast.
Dalton first fell in love with journalist Kate Adie in his early years. From 1971 to 1986, he then dated English actress Vanessa Redgrave. His romances with actors Stefanie Powers and Whoopi Goldberg were brief. In the 1990s, he had a love relationship with musician Oksana Grigorieva. She met him for the first time in 1995 while she was translating for Nikita Mikhalkov. The son of Dalton and Grigorieva was named Alexander. They separated in or around 2003.

Dalton is a devoted supporter of Manchester City F.C. and frequently shows up at the City of Manchester Stadium to see the team play.
Dalton made the switch to television almost away, mostly working for the BBC, and made his acting debut as Philip II of France in The Lion in Winter in 1968. Later, he played Prince Rupert of the Rhine in the English Civil War drama Cromwell and Heathcliff in the 1970 production of Wuthering Heights. He would go on to appear in other historical plays after this one. After a few more films, Dalton took a break from acting in 1971 to concentrate on theatre, performing with the Royal Shakespeare Company and other companies all around the world. 1975 saw a revival of Noel Coward’s The Vortex, with Dalton and Vivien Merchant in charge of the cast.

He continued acting in theatre until 1978, with the exception of Permission to Kill (1975) and Mary, Queen of Scots. (1971). That year, he made his cinematic comeback and started his American career when he was chosen to play Mae West’s husband in Sextette. Dalton spent the majority of his time in the US working in television, though he also made numerous film appearances. Around this time, he played Mr. Rochester in a BBC production of Jane Eyre. In the 1980 science fiction movie Flash Gordon, he played Prince Barin. (1983). The Doctor and the Devils featured Jonathan Pryce and Dalton (1985).
