Repair Or Replace Your Roof

Should You Repair Or Replace Your Roof?

Roofs are expensive. If you begin to have roof issues, it probably will make your stress level increase trying to think about what the problem is let alone what the cost will be to have your roof fixed. Good news is that just because your roof might have some damage, it doesn’t mean that it needs to be replaced exactly. There are some ways that can help you determine whether or not your roof needs to be repaired or replaced.

There are a couple of different ways that can help you determine if your roof is damaged enough for a roof repair or to have your roof completely replaced. If your roof has natural damages like fallen limb scars, hail damage, those damages can usually be easily repaired. If your roof is several years old, repairing or re roofing a section may be a low cost solution over an entire replacement. Modern roofs are rubber, tar and plastic around pipes and vents. These materials tend to degrade faster than roofing material and will eventually cause your roof to start leaking. You will need to consider replacing your roof if your roof is old. Asphalt shingle roofing needs to be replaced every 15-20 years. When your roof gets to that age, you should start having yearly inspections done to determine when you should replace your roof. If your roof has more than a couple missing shingles, it’s more than likely time to replace your roof before the problem gets worse. When your roof has missing shingles, this usually means that there is an underlying issue that has occurred.

A Roof Restoration

It’s only a matter of time that the older the roof is, it will eventually show age. Most roof restorations are designed to extend the lifespan of your roof and are a cheaper alternative to a roof replacement and the end result will look as good as new and have you just as happy with how your roof looks. Roofs in poor conditions can leak, attract unwanted wildlife like birds, eventually develop harmful mold growth and can cause significant issues when it comes to insurance claims. If your roof is looking a little worse for wear and requires more than a few minimal repairs, then it is probably time to consider a professional roof restoration.

Your Home Insurance Will Be Maintained

You can try to repair your roof yourself, but it’s best to have a professional roofer repair, replace or give your roof a restoration to keep your home insurance safe. Your roof is the first-line defense against all elements, so it is important for your roof to be in the best shape possible. A poor job to your roof can not only increase damage but can also void your home insurance.

When To Call A Professional

You don’t necessarily have to be a professional to know if your roof is damaged or not. You can visually inspect your roof from the ground and the attic every year. This will allow you to see the roof condition in a closer look. At the end of the day if your concerns are extreme and if you think that a professional needs to be called, you need to call so to avoid any more damage.
